The Fourth of July is a day of independence and freedom. This is the day the original thirteen colonies claimed their independence from Great Britain by signing the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. This is a significant event because it led to the birth of the United States.
In today’s modern society, we celebrate this historical event by watching the explosion of fireworks with friends, family, and those close to us. It is a day to appreciate how blessed each and every citizen of the United States is to be able to live in a country that offers every individual the freedom and responsibility to improve their own lives. We enjoy the freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and the right to bear arms, among many other privileges that many other countries do not have.
This day serves as a reminder not to take the liberty bestowed upon on us by our founding fathers for granted. It serves as a reminder that we must make use of these benefits by embarking on the pursuit of happiness. Ultimately, the Fourth of July is the day to display your patriotism to the United States of America.
