Being a Rainbow

Being a Rainbow

April 12, 2019 marks an important day, National Donate Life Month. Organ donation is something I’d thought of in passing, but never truly stopped to understand the impact it makes on so many lives until I was faced with my sister’s illness. In 2008, my sister, Dina, was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. Her immune system was mistakenly attacking her body affecting her liver and bile ducts. Over the years as her condition worsened, she tried every treatment plan possible including experimental treatments. To date, none of the treatment plans have been a successful. Today, Dina is in the end-stage …

Submitted by: Maggie Yarbrough, Social Media and PR Strategist Throughout the month of February, we held our first Company-wide Warm Winter Clothing Drive. The clothing donated consisted of new and gently used blankets, coats, sweatshirts, hats, gloves, mittens, boots, and scarves. Thanks to the generous support of our customers, communities, and team members – we collected 11,925 items of clothing, totaling $111,895, and impacting around 549 charities. Our team really came together to make this initiative a huge success! Stores across the country held separate winter clothing drives for many years, which is why we decided it was time to …

A More Certain Truth of Time

A More Certain Truth of Time

Submitted by: Jason Broce, Director of Human Resources and Colon Cancer Survivor Some say, “growing older is a privilege denied to many”. Like many quotes of wisdom, this is one that I have come to understand, yet never fully embraced until a couple of years ago. I’ve always been an advocate of my own health. As a boy, I remember watching my Dad running, lifting weights, and hanging from his biceps, and I wanted to be strong like him. Aside from a few years in college, I’ve always deliberately watched what I ate and maintained a regular exercise routine. With …

This organization supports children born with cranio-facial abnormalities and their families who are financially unable to take their child to major medical centers where specialized craniofacial teams provide the safest and most advanced treatments for building a face and skull. There is never a charge for any service provided by FACES, including travel, …

Random Acts of Kindness Day

Random Acts of Kindness Day

Today is Random Acts of Kindness Day! We’ve had so much fun celebrating kindness all week- we’ve seen pictures and posts of breakfast treats at the office, kind words, kind acts to team members and strangers, and most of all, smiling faces! In fact, we even have the “RAK Police” patrolling the hallways of our Dallas corporate office capturing acts of kindness from our team members. Check out these great shout-outs and posts our team members made below, but you’ll have to check the TMX Finance Family of Companies social media pages to see everyone’s acts of kindness. Remember to …

Fighting for Cole – The Journey to ‘Cancer-Free’

[row][column xs=”8″ sm=”10″]Submitted by: Jamie Lane[/column][/row] On March 15, 2015, Misty Edwards, Senior Treasury Specialist for the TMX Finance Family of Companies, received news that would turn her and her family’s life upside down. She had to hear four of the scariest words no parent ever wants to hear – “Your son has cancer.” Misty had taken her son Cole to the doctor for what she thought was just a cold. However, the doctor immediately sent Cole for testing and that’s when everything changed. “Hearing that your 19-month old son has cancer was beyond anything I could have imagined. Then …
