My Experience Volunteering at Operation Kindness

My Experience Volunteering at Operation Kindness

Submitted by: Frankie Tijerina, Product Marketing Manager Life is short. A dog’s life is even shorter. Why not fill it with kindness? For those of you that know me, and my devout love for dogs, it’s probably no surprise that I would jump at the chance to volunteer at an animal shelter. I grew up around dogs and developed a deep passion for these incredible animals. It’s not unusual to see me running down the street to pet a dog. You know that ‘Me When I See Dogs’ meme? Yep – that’s me! And I have no shame. I’m completely …

Being a Rainbow

Being a Rainbow

April 12, 2019 marks an important day, National Donate Life Month. Organ donation is something I’d thought of in passing, but never truly stopped to understand the impact it makes on so many lives until I was faced with my sister’s illness. In 2008, my sister, Dina, was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. Her immune system was mistakenly attacking her body affecting her liver and bile ducts. Over the years as her condition worsened, she tried every treatment plan possible including experimental treatments. To date, none of the treatment plans have been a successful. Today, Dina is in the end-stage …

Creating a Culture of Service

Creating a Culture of Service

Submitted by: Kaitlyn McCormack, Senior Recruiting Manager I have a confession. When I was asked to facilitate a training on “Creating a Culture of Service”, I was a little apprehensive. The phrase is somewhat lofty and ambiguous, so to help make it more digestible, the first thing I did was Google the meaning of culture (as it applies to a company) and the meaning of service. Here is what I found: The culture of an organization is practically its DNA; it is implied, not expressly defined, and develops organically over time from the cumulative traits of the people the company …

Random Acts of Kindness Day

Random Acts of Kindness Day

Today is Random Acts of Kindness Day! We’ve had so much fun celebrating kindness all week- we’ve seen pictures and posts of breakfast treats at the office, kind words, kind acts to team members and strangers, and most of all, smiling faces! In fact, we even have the “RAK Police” patrolling the hallways of our Dallas corporate office capturing acts of kindness from our team members. Check out these great shout-outs and posts our team members made below, but you’ll have to check the TMX Finance Family of Companies social media pages to see everyone’s acts of kindness.
